In July, Andrew Coward, Co-Founder and Director of Reactivate Consulting, welcomed a distinguished delegation from Singapore's Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) to our office in Chippendale, Sydney. This visit, part of the CLC EDGE Programme, was aimed at sharing insights and expertise in urban design and master planning with key Singaporean stakeholders in the built environment and tourism sectors.
During their stay, the delegation, which included professionals from Singapore’s Housing & Development Board (HDB), National Parks, Singapore Land Authority (SLA), Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), and Singapore Tourism Board (STB), participated in a comprehensive walking tour. Led by Andrew Coward, the tour highlighted areas such as the Central Park urban renewal project, One Central Park development, the under-construction Quantum Tech HQ, several university projects in Ultimo, and the Tech Central district, concluding in Darling Quarter. These sites showcased innovative urban renewal projects and illustrated the vibrant urban fabric of Sydney.
The session conducted by Mr. Coward on July 12th was highly engaging, covering topics such as placemaking principles, strategies, and challenges in Sydney, as well as the collaborative roles of the public, private, and community sectors in urban development. The presentation included case studies that demonstrated successful placemaking initiatives and the metrics used to evaluate their community impact.
The CLC delegation expressed profound appreciation for the insights shared, highlighting the session as one of the study trip's most impactful experiences. They noted that Mr. Coward's knowledgeable presentation provided an excellent comparative perspective between Sydney and Singapore's urban design approaches.
This event not only strengthened international ties but also underscored Reactivate Consulting’s role in shaping global urban landscapes. The success of the visit promises ongoing collaboration between Singaporean urban development entities and Reactivate Consulting, fostering a shared vision for sustainable and livable cities worldwide.
