Reactivate has been engaged by City of Canterbury Bankstown to design and deliver the first Campsie Street Festival, as part of the NSW Department of Planning and Environment’s Festival of Place Open Streets Program, which supports community events and activities that see streets reimagined as places for people.
Reactivate secured the contract to design the event and bring together a great team to ensure that the festival was community led and reflected Campsie authentically.
We selected Dylan Goh to curate a fantastic program of artists and performers. He has led a process that has seen a theme include an explosion of culture and energy with an exciting line up that showcases great Asian-Australian talent.
Teik-Kim Pok has supported Reactivate in engaging with the local businesses and restaurants to program food service in the food stalls, which focuses on the exciting specialities of this Chinese Malaysian food destination. He will also be our amazing MC on the Time Out Stage.
Sold Out is our event partner and has done a fantastic job bringing to life a complex project for a large audience across multiple road closures.
The two-day festival will run from 11am-8pm on 21 and 22 May 2022 and see the heart of Campsie transformed into a buzzing street festival celebrating this diverse suburb’s dynamic Chinese Malaysian food and culture.
Expect some exciting specialty rice and noodle dishes, moreish tapioca and sesame inspired desserts, and refreshing drinks from neighbourhood favourites including:
· Albee’s Kitchen
· Malaysia Hometown Hawker
· Hexin Bros
· S.Wheaty
A dedicated durian stall will be offering durians for sale, as well as durian ice-creams, and an exciting pop-up Tiger Beer bar will be operating all weekend.
There will be gamescapes for the kids, as well as children’s entertainers and roaming performance artists, plus other entertainment including:
· Beats by DJ Alice Tauv, DJ Nam and Deejay Djinn
· Live jazz shows by Zodiac and Chuey
· Inclusive comedy by Tight 5 Comedy
