On October 4, the NSW 24 Hour Economy commission hosted another incredible District Showcase Night, on our home turf of Chippendale. The night was a chance for district graduates to celebrate the completion of the intensive 12-week accelerator program and showcase their plans to create vibrant going out districts.
For the first time, regional teams from Greater Newcastle, the Central Coast, and Illawarra-Shoalhaven participated alongside Greater Sydney.
We’re proud to have worked closely with the 24-Hour Economy commission since the program’s inauguration in 2022. And 2024 was a year like no other, with districts from right around the state participating; from Berry to Bulli, Nowra to Shoal Bay, Wollongong to Woolloomooloo, multiple Western Sydney teams and four alone from the great city of Newcastle.
We had the pleasure of working with all 25 Districts over the course of six weeks to craft their own unique place vision that carried them through the program.
The upcoming Round Three of the Uptown Grant Program will offer $5.5 million in funding to help district teams across the state fast-track their visions into reality. Applications will open in December 2024.
We’re looking forward to seeing the amazing districts bring to life our state and continue the legacy of this incredible program.
